Details of NIMROD Code and Parameters


The NIMROD code is described in the publication [C. R. Sovinec, A. H. Glasser, G. A. Gianakon, et al., J. Comput. Phys. 195 (2004) 355].

The number of degrees of freedom (DOF) for a single scalar field is NX x NY x NP**2, where NP is the degree of the polynomial. Static condensation reduces this to NX x NY x (2 x NP - 1), although at the expense of increasing the fill of the matrix. NIMROD solves for 3 variables simultaneously, thus the rank of the matrix they are factoring is nrank = 3 x NX x NY x (2 x NP - 1).
