Jin,

I am wondering if you can take additional responsibility of routinely running
m3d code for consistency check and benchmark.

If yes, please compare different versions using the fishbone input, as a first step. You only need
to run about 10 time steps and compare kinetic energy and document the
differences and possible causes (i.e., major code changes). You might want to
start from the newest version and going back as many versions as you can.

to make things simple, you could first compare the un-symmetric versions with
finite difference in toroidal direction. You also could just use one computer such
as Seaborg.

Please let me know if you have questions.

Thanks,

Jin,

I think it would be a big help to the M3D group if you could do this.

It might be good to document this on a web site. Have a list of each code version, what was changed
(by who) from the previous version, and list what consistency checks and benchmarks have been run with
each version.

What do you think?

Maybe you could come up with a plan and we could discuss at a M3D meeting in the near future.

Hi Steve, Guoyong, and Wonchull

This is very important and I think I can do this. Since I have done a
comparison for version 3.9 and 3.10. First I will document that, and I
can
benchmark the code for the versions newer than these two.

Thanks Jin,

Once you get a system for benchmarking and documenting that you are
comfortable with, we should all get together and you can explain it to
us and get some feedback.

Let me know when you are ready.
