$CODESYSDIR/transpin/user.guide 10/15/04 C.Ludescher-Furth To run xtranspin: 1) Define Environment Variables. ================================ PPPL: module load ntcc ALL: optionally define $XTRANSPIN_TOK to default to your favourite tokamak e.g. bash/ksh : export XTRANSPIN_TOK=NSTX csh/tcsh : setenv XTRANSPIN_TOK NSTX Non PPPL: ask your TRANSP admin where these locations are: $XTRANSPIN -- xtr_* directories (text files) $TRANSP_LOCATION -- TRANSP configuration files (text files) $UIDPATH -- add location of motif *.uid (binaries) e.g. bash/ksh : export UIDPATH=$LOCAL/uid/%U:$UIDPATH csh/tcsh : setenv UIDPATH $LOCAL/uid/%U:$UIDPATH 2) Define some X/Motif resources. ================================== The resources that you want to be defined are: *foreground: NavyBlue or Black *background: LightGray or SkyBlue *selectColor: Orange or Red *marginHeight: 0 *fontList: fixed For Unix: ========== You can define resources in: .Xdefaults or XTranspin (in your home directory). If you want: cp $XTRANSPIN/XTranspin $HOME Note: On MAC only: .Xdefaults overwrites XTranspin In general: ================ You are free to change your copy of XTranspin. You WILL want a fixed font so that menu items line up properly, but color is up to you. Some font suggestions: *fontList: -*-fixed-medium-*-*--14-*-*-*-*-*-iso8859-* *fontList: -misc-fixed-bold-r-*-*-*-100-*-*-*-*-*-* To select a siutable font, run "xfontsel" on a unix node. If you are running on various terminals, you may need different fonts for different screen sizes. You can overwrite XTranspin via the envirenment variable $XENVIRONMENT. e.g. XENVIRONMENT = $HOME/Xtranspin_pb will use $HOME/Xtranspin_pb instead of $HOME/Xtranspin 3) Run XTranspin. ================= $ xtranspin & When the first window appears, position the cursor over the word xtranspin and hit your help key ( F1 ). -or- Click on "Introduction" on the "Help" Pulldown menu.
