Ravi Samtaney began his scientific career
as an experimentalist but then switched to computational work after
a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his Phd in
Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Rutgers University in
1993. Following his PhD, Ravi was a post-doc at Caltech in Applied
Mathematics and Aeronatics. His work experience include several
years at Caltech as a research faculty in Applied Mathematics, and
as a scientist at NASA Ames Research Center. His latest position is
that of "computational scientist" in the Computational
Plasma Physics Group at PPPL, Currently his research focus is on
adaptive mesh refinement methods for magnetohydrodynamics relevant
to the fusion effort. His expertise include numerical analysis,
adaptive mesh refinement methods, high speed flows, and
computational mathematics.
