TRANSP Compute Server Access for Off-Site Users
Prerequisites for submitting TRANSP runs from Off-Site:
- A FusionGrid Certificate
- A PPPL User Account
- Users submitting from "Trusted" Sites
(Culham, GA, IPP, JET, MIT)
- A "TRANSP only" account
- Users submitting from other Sites
- A PPPL user account with "Off-Site Access"
(requires Cyber training)
- A PPPL "TRANSP" account
- All Foreign Nationals will have to fill in a DOE Registration form.
Once PPPL recieves the account registration, the user will automatically get a request to complete the electronic form.
This form will be valid for 4 years or the date of expiration of the individual's passport (whichever comes first).

TRANSP Compute Server access employs FusionGrid Certificates for
authentication. To get a FusionGrid certificate, go to the
FusionGrid Credential Management Server and
click on "Request new certificate".

To use this proxy, you will use the Globus
"myproxy-get-delegation".
myproxy-get-delegation -s cert.fusiongrid.org [ -l username ] [ -t hours ]
where username is the name entered as username on the Request New
Certificate Form and hours is the desired lifetime of the proxy where default is twelve hours
(a TRANSP run may take longer than that default.) The password entered
is the one that you entered in the Form. For more information,
run "man myproxy-get-delegation" on your Unix system.
Note: The FusionGrid login routine "fglogin.sh" from cert.fusiongrid.org can be
used. This routine also has arguments '-l username' and '-t hours'.

If you have forgotten your FusionGrid Certificate password,
a new certificate, with a new password, may be requested using the
Recover
Certificate page.
- From inside PPPL
Go to PPPL Computer Account Registration
Please specify in the "Intended Use" field:
- who your "Off-Site" Contact is
- what project (tokamak) data will you be studying
- From Off Site
- Send email to Transp Support, stating:
- Your First & Last Name
- Your Affiliation
- Your Sponsor at Affiliation
- Intended use of TRANSP

You will in return receive an email asking you to click on the embedded link to complete the online registration. This link will be available for 3 days.
Note: you must fill in a PPPL contact.
- A prior email to Transp Support by your affiliaton's contact, vouching for your need for the service, can speedup approval.
- Account Renewal
All accounts must be renewed annually. Expired accounts will be deleted.
