Aug. 31, 2006 Dear NSTX Colleagues: Efitviewer has been updated by Qian Peng and also more diagnostics have been added. Existing diagnostics now are GPI camera view, GPI tangential diodes view, SGI geometry (indicates also position of ehad and position of separatrix at that point), fast probe geometry, Verticla fibers (bay C), bolometer, lower divertor camera, horizontal divertor camera, organ pipe view and tile probes location. I encourage you to send me your diagnostic geometry and I will be happy to add it to the growing list. I list below how to get an equilibrium and overlay the diagnostics. Things you can do: -display any equilibrium and overlay equilibria from various time slices and/or shots. -zoon into any details you want. -Add diagnostic overlays, so you know where the diagnostic is looking at. It is also good for publications, the geometry is right there. -You can use the cursor to find out distances (like where is a given flux surface and where it hits a solid object) -Get info on many parameters such as discharge volume, area, gaps, etc. -Easily change number of contours in the core or in the edge/SOL. Track if those contours intercept a solid surface. -Create high quality EPS output for your publications. How to use: 1-Type "efitviewer" in the LINUX cluster 2-A window will appear. Click on the MDSPlus button. New options appear. 3-Type your favorite shot number in the shot window. A list of EFITs will appear in the middle window. 4-Choose one of those (LRDFIT is not quite ready) and a list of times will appear in the right window (in seconds) 5-Either type or choose your time. A new window will appear with the equilibrium and ALSO with lots of info such as current, density, discharge area and volume, gaps, etc. This is also useful 6-If you want diagnostics overlays, click "diagnostic overlays" and choose them from the list. 7-If you want to change the number of contours, plot in Psi or Rho space, etc. Choose "Preferences" Best and enjoy Jose Boedo
