Objects that are instances of the App class are used to keep track of resource databases. Every application must create at least one App object. One is created automatically if you begin your HLU program with an NhlOpen (C), or NhlfOpen (Fortran). Alternately, if you begin the program with an NhlInitialize (C) or NhlfInitialize (Fortran), you must create an App object yourself using NhlCreate (C), or NhlfCreate (Fortran).
See Steps 3 and 4 of HLU plot creation sequence.
