PPPL is one of ten Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Science Laboratories, and is managed by Princeton University. PPPL scientists and engineers advance the coupled fields of fusion energy and plasma physics. PPPL staff and collaborators together are developing the scientific understanding and key innovations needed to realize fusion as an energy source for the world, and are conducting research along the broad frontier of plasma science and technology. PPPL also nurtures and supports the national research enterprise in these fields, and educates the next generation of plasma and fusion scientists. PPPL's annual funding is approximately $85 to $90 million, and the Laboratory employs approximately 450 staff. The successful candidate must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related field and typically 15 years of experience in the financial/accounting field. The candidate must have a record of progressive leadership abilities, demonstrated oral and written communication skills, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. In addition, experience in negotiating and monitoring fixed price and cost type contracts. A solid background in accounting, financial, and procurement practices, including understanding of relevant Cost Accounting Standards, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, the Federal Acquisition Regulations, and the Department of Energy Acquisition Regulations is necessary. Experience in using computer systems; implementing or upgrading an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system is a plus. A MBA and CPA license is desirable.
