Dr. Janardhan Manickam is the Head of
the Theoretical Department at the Princeton Plasma Physics
Laboratory (PPPL) at Princeton University. He is also the
National Coordinator for Spherical Tokamak Theory, Chair of the US
National MHD Working Group and serves on the US MHD Expert Group for
ITER Studies. He is a Principal Research Scientist focusing on
MHD stability and tokamak design who has been at the laboratory
since 1975. He is the co-author of over 150 publications in
refereed journals. He is a Fellow of the American Physical
Society and a past Chair of the International Sherwood
Committee. In addition, he has served as Leader of the PPPL
MHD Science focus group at PPPL. Manickam received his B.S. in
Physics from Osmania University, Hyderababd, India, an M.S. in
Nuclear Physics from Andhra University, Waltair, India, and a PhD
from Stevens Institute of Technology, Hoboken, New Jersey.
