Installing Globus for TRANSP

  1. Install Globus for use as a client
  2. Add DOEGrids signing authority
  3. Access to PPPL Globus
  4. If your site will not allow you to contact other sites
  5. Globus setup and testing for a user

  1. Install Globus for use as a client

    Services to be used are grid-proxy-init, myproxy-get-delegation, globus-url-copy, and globus-job-submit.


  2. Add DOEGrids/FusionGrid signing authority

    Go to http://cert.fusiongrid.org to download certs.tar file.
  3. Access to PPPL Globus

    See TRANSP Compute Server Access page for instructions on obtaining FusionGrid user certificates.


  4. If your site will not allow you to contact other sites.

    • If your site, like many sites, does not block outgoing traffic but only incoming traffic, then the firewall at your site will not be an issue.
    • Otherwise, information for the firewall people is that you will be sending data to:
          transpgrid.pppl.gov 2811/TCP ......... Globus GRIDftp
          tranpsgrid.pppl.gov 2119/TCP ......... Globus Gatekeeper
          transpgrid.pppl.gov 50000-50049/TCP .. Globus ephemeral ports
