They are world readable in ~nevins/GKV_1.2_Dist/GS2_Mikkelsen g11a-g.flx.nc and ghr11ae.flx.nc are shortened files with just the fluxes vs. time. g11b.out.nc has all the usual variables (I think) for a modest length of time; it does not include the initial linear phase (that was in g11.out.nc). Color tables getting screwed up in IDL 5.5: Add the following two lines to your IDL startup file: WINDOW, /PIXMAP & WDELETE DEVICE, BYPASS_TRANSLATION=0 (this info from http://www.dfanning.com/idl5_info/colorbug.html ) 2. gzipped-tar file of the klasky installation of GKV (that Bill used in the demo) is available at: /s/tern/gkv.tgz (courtesy of Scott K.) NOTE: This will expand the distribution into a directory inconveniently called "sklasky", which you will have to rename to "gkv" or something useful. (I take that back -- this is only inconvenient for those of us not named SKlasky). -Tobin ____________________________________________________________ Tobin Munsat (609) 243-3155 (office) Princeton Plasma Physics Lab 243-2164 (lab) Princeton, NJ 08543 243-2665 (fax) ____________________________________________________________ Date: Wed, 22 Jan 2003 12:54:37 -0500 From: Tobin Munsat Subject: IDL startup files... IDL novices: To make a recognized IDL startup file, which can contain useful commands that are automatically run upon starting IDL, insert the following line (appropriately edited) into your .cshrc file: setenv IDL_STARTUP /u/tmunsat/idl/startup/startup (you can tell IDL to find the file anywhere you want as long as you have access permission) Then you have to actually make a text file called /u/tmunsat/idl/startup/startup , which can contain the two color-fix lines or anything else. -Tobin
